What are the conditions that apply for closing of shops and grant of holidays as per the Shops and Establishments Act?
As per the Act, every shop shall remain entirely closed on one day of the week and that day should be specified by the employer in a notice permanently exhibited in a conspicuous place in the premises. The specified day should not be altered by the employer more than once in three months.
Every person employed in a shop shall be allowed a holiday of one whole day in each week.
